triggeredEmails.emailContact('UfAhM8p', "If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself" - Henry Ford -I'm sharing this message with you today, not just as a candidate for mayor, but as someone who loves this city, believes in its potential, and is ready to fight for its future.
Pocatello is at a turning point. We can choose to do things the way they’ve always been done, or we can embrace change together. Change isn’t about losing who we are; it’s about making smart decisions so that we can move forward, stronger, more united, and more prosperous than ever before.
And that starts with how we manage your hard-earned tax dollars. Government should be responsible and efficient, not wasteful. We need to take a close look at our city’s budget, cut unnecessary spending, and focus on what truly matters so we can provide better services while keeping taxes low. Your money should be working for you, not being used to balance an unsustainable budget.
One of our top priorities must be public safety. Every person in Pocatello deserves to feel safe in their home, their neighborhood, and their workplace. That means giving our police and firefighters the support and resources they need to protect and serve. It also means being proactive; investing in community programs that prevent crime, support mental health services, address homelessness, and ensure that our public safety efforts are strong, fair, and effective.
But safety isn’t just about law enforcement, it’s also about economic security. A strong economy is key to a thriving city. We need to make Pocatello a place where businesses want to invest and where families can find good-paying jobs. That means cutting red tape for local entrepreneurs, attracting new industries, and making smart infrastructure improvements that support growth. When businesses succeed, our city succeeds.
And as we grow, we must make sure that every Pocatellan has a place to call home. Affordable housing isn’t just an issue for a few, it affects all of us. Young families, working professionals, and seniors deserve options that fit their needs and their budgets. We can work with developers to build responsibly, streamline the approval process, and create policies that make housing both accessible and sustainable.
But let’s be clear, growth should not come at the cost of the open spaces and outdoor lifestyle that make Pocatello special. We live in one of the most beautiful places in Idaho, and it’s our duty to protect it. As mayor, I will ensure that we balance development with conservation, safeguarding our trails, parks, and natural landscapes for future generations. Growth and preservation are not opposites—they must go hand in hand.
At the heart of all this is a simple idea: Pocatello deserves a government that works for the people, one that listens, is transparent, and earns your trust every day. I believe in open communication, accountability, and leadership that puts you first.
The future of Pocatello is bright, but it’s up to us to shape it. By embracing change, working together, and making smart choices, we can build a city that is safer, stronger, and more prosperous for everyone.
I ask for your support, your ideas, and your voice in this journey. Let’s move forward together, because the best days of Pocatello are still ahead. Vote Greg Cates for Mayor of Pocatello - November 4th 2025
