ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Greg

MY PERSONAL LIFE
I was born and raised in San Jose, California. I moved to Pocatello 20 years ago, in 2005. I have been married to my best friend, Marcie, for 12 years. Together we have 5 children, 3 daughters (Laken, Sidney, Bailey) and 2 sons (Tre, Tristan), and a granddaughter (Spencer). Tre is married and has a young daughter. He is a Detective and member of the SWAT Team and Bomb Squad in Southeast Idaho. Laken graduated from Brigham Young University, earning a BS Degree in Environmental Sciences. She lives and works outside the country. Sidney graduated from BYU-Idaho, earning a BS Degree in Neurological Sciences. She lives and works out of state. Bailey graduated from Boise State University, earning a BA Degree in Kinesiology. She is preparing for the Doctorate Program.

MY VALUES
I was raised by my father. He worked three jobs to provide for our family. He was a full-time San Jose Police Officer, a bank teller, and a grocery clerk. He sacrificed everything to make sure I was well-cared for.
My father was my hero, my protector, my best friend. He taught me that anything is possible if you try hard enough and never quit. He instilled in me the importance of family, hard work, accountability, sacrifice, integrity, courage, fairness, independence, and compassion. To this day, I apply these values and principles to every aspect of my life.
A THRIVING CAREER
I have spent most of my life as a public servant and business owner. I did complete 2 years of college, majoring in criminal justice, psychology, and sociology, but the majority of my experience comes from life outside a classroom. Decades of hands-on, real-life situations have taught me how to remain calm under pressure, stay focused, apply common sense, and use good judgement to solve problems.
I currently work for Idaho Central Credit Union as a Member Assistance Officer. This has been a great experience because I spend my days helping families navigate financial challenges, understand budgets, and build sustainable plans for the future. These same skills will help me ensure Pocatello's finances are handled responsibly.
I am a retired Police Officer. I served the citizens of Pocatello for 16 years, from 2007 - 2023, handling over 30,000 calls for service involving people from all walks-of-life. I was a dedicated Patrolman, Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, and Community Resource Officer.
As a Police Officer, I quickly learned the importance of treating people fairly and with respect, having a strong moral compass and unquestionable integrity, being an effective communicator, having the courage to risk my own life for someone I have never met, being able to solve problems quickly under extreme pressure, getting people to listen and compromise, showing empathy and compassion for others, being able to take charge during emergencies, and being strong enough both mentally and physically to go home at the end of the day and fill my role as loving husband and father. I retired in December 2023 after suffering a job-related injury.
I previously worked as a Fugitive Recovery Agent with Alladin Bail Bonds, spending 2 years chasing fugitives around Idaho and surrounding states. I also established a supervised bail program where I monitored hundreds of cases and tracked over $20 million dollars in bail.
Before moving to Pocatello, I owned and operated a successful private investigation firm for 18 years. I became an expert in surveillance and law enforcement background investigations. I have conducted thousands of surveillance operations throughout the United States and Canada. I was also contracted by over 25 police departments, fire departments, and government agencies to conduct background investigations for new recruits.
Keeping Families Together
One of my priorities is Keeping Families Together. In order to accomplish that we must find creative ways of bringing businesses to our city that will pay a livable wage so our children, and grandchildren, won’t need to move away to start a career, start a family, or buy their first home.
I’ve experienced that myself. I know the pain of losing children to other cities because it happened to me three times over. I raised 3 daughters in Pocatello, all graduated from Highland High School with highest honors; all received college scholarships. Unfortunately, ALL of them moved away to attend college and have no desire to move back to Pocatello because, as they say “there is nothing there for me.” I struggle to convince them otherwise because they’re right.
So now, like many other parents in this city, I find myself missing each of them every day, wondering when I’ll get another chance to visit with them and catch up on everything I’m missing in their lives.
When our children move away, and our families are broken apart, it weakens our community. It severely impacts our quality of life. That's why keeping families together is so crucial to the success of Pocatello. That's why it's one of my top priorities.
